The Ferret Inn would like to thank you for your interest in adopting a ferret from us. The process for adoption includes a phone interview, completion of the adoption application and a visit to the shelter. To ensure the safety of a new adoptee, an in home visit for proper "ferret proofing" may be required. Please visit our Learning section to make sure this is the right pet for you. We welcome out-of-town applications but a visit to the shelter is MANDATORY.

We will NOT ship ferrets under any circumstances.

Completion of the adoption application is not a guarantee that a ferret will be placed with you. The adoption is not finalized until all the steps of the adoption have been completed, the applicant has been approved and the adoption donation has been paid. The "Ferret Inn" Reserves the right to cancel the adoption at anytime prior to the adoption being finalized. To avoid the possibility of denying a ferret a chance for adoption to a loving home, ferrets can not be held or reserved.

All information provided to The "Ferret Inn" will be used for adoption determination purposes only and will absolutely not be shared with any outside parties.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED!

Please note: Each adoption is evaluated and a decision is made at the discretion of the "Ferret Inn". The "Ferret Inn" reserves the right to refuse any application. Any false or misleading information will result in the cancellation of the adoption or, if the ferret has already been placed, will result in the ferret being removed form the household. - Nancy Wilson, Director

ADOPTION FACTS

Before proceeding with the adoption application we ask that you read our Education section first. All of the ferrets at our shelter have been rescued at least once and it is our objective that they do not end up in a similar situation. Take your time before deciding to get a ferret as they are not for everyone. We recommend looking at other web sites and reading books before you make your final decision.

Please fill out the online questionnaire found here. This takes approximately 15 minutes and gives us an idea of your experience with ferrets, your reasons for wanting one, and your knowledge about caring for a ferret.

Completion of the application form serves as an authorization for The "Ferret Inn" to contact your landlord, veterinarian, or any other source deemed necessary. This process is required in order to properly place each ferret with a suitable home. These wonderful animal have been rescued once and are now in need of forever homes.

Meet the Ferrets - Our adoption coordinator will review the ferrets available for adoption and give the adopter the choice of meeting any of the foster ferrets that are suitable for their home. Please remember that not all approved adopters are suitable for all ferrets, and vice versa. We try to match the right ferret with the right family based on both the ferret's needs and the family's lifestyle.
